Benjamin Sebring was born, February 1, 1847 in Burlington, Iowa and departed this life in Blue Springs, on April 24, 1927 at the age of 80 years, 2 months and 23 days.
On May 14, 1875 he was united in marriage to Miss Nancy M. Pricer in Pratt county, Kansas. To this union three children were born, all of whom are living and were at his bedside when the end came. They are: Mrs. W. C. Dutton and Fred B. Sebring, both of Blue Springs, and Mrs. James Voksch of Virginia, Neb. Mr. Sebring made his home with his son, Fred. Eight grand children and three great grand children and two brothers, James and Joe Sebring of Kingman, Kan., also remain to mourn their loss.
His companion departed this life June 25, 1920.
He became a member of the Odd Fellow lodge forty-five years ago at DeWitt, Neb., and when he moved to Blue Springs, twenty-five years ago, transferred his membership to this place.
In 1903 he and his family moved to Bookwalter living there 6 years, then onto their own farm near Pawnee City where he lived fourteen years where he again changed his membership in the I.O.O.F.
When a young man he united with the Presbyterian church and his faith was strong in God. He made mention many times during his illness the last two years that he was ready and waiting to go to live with Jesus for he knew he had a home prepared in Heaven for him.
Funeral services were held from the U.B. church here Tuesday morning, conducted by Rev. C. B. Hoke, who used the text 2nd Samuel 14:14.
Interment was made in the Pawnee City cemetery. Members of the I.O.O.F. lodge acted as pall bearers both at the service here and at Pawnee City.
