Last we spoke of the sudden death of Mother Davis, and to that item we now add the following biography: Mary Jane McKean was born November 20, 1846, at Bradford, Pa., and was there married to Lewis Davis June 24, 1868. They came to Nebraska in 1879, living for a few years near Minden. In the year 1885 they came to this vicinity and she has resided here ever since. Her husband died at Hastings in 1895 and was buried there. She died at her home in Moorefield May 8, 1912. The funeral was conducted by Rev. G. V. Frey from the M. E. church, to which she belonged, after which she was laid to rest in the Moorefield cemetery by the side of her parents. She leaves one son, William R. Davis, who, with his family, have the tender sympathies of the entire community in their great loss which is theirs to bear.
