OBITUARY
Franklin Mahlon Elsworth Pearson
Franklin Mahlon Elsworth Pearson was born April 1, 1862, at Liberty, Indiana, and departed this life at 3:45 Thursday morning, October 9, 1930, at the age of 68 years, 5 months and 26 days.
He came from a family of nine children. He was the son of Alfred and Harriette Pearson. He came with his parents from Indiana when quite young and with them settled at Cozad, Nebr., where his parents passed away.
After his marriage, he moved to Kansas in 1894 and came back to Eustis, in June 1899, later loving to Moorefield where he has made his home for the past 29 years.
Mr. Pearson was united in marriage to Miss Catherine Allen on June 16, 1887. To this union were born five children, one son departing this life at the age of three months.
There are left to mourn his loss his wife, on son, Charles of Ingham, three daughters, Mrs. Bertha Strickland of Moorefield, Mrs. Nellie Gunn of Nunn, Colo., and Mrs. Dora Scrutchfield of North Platte. Sixteen grandchildren, two brothers, G.Q. of Freewater and Albert Pearson of Cozad, Nebr., and Mrs. Fannie Franey of Crawford, Nebr., and a host of friends and other relatives.
In early life Mr. Pearson united with the Evangelical Lutheran church.
He had many friends and it is said of him that he was a good husband and a kind loving father.
Funeral services were held at the Moorefield Union church with W.H. McKnight, Austin Hill, Mr. Brestel, Mr. John Speck, Mr. Krone, and Mr. Con Sears as pallbearers. His favorite hymn were: “Rock of Ages”, “Asleep in Jesus”, and “Face to Face” were sang.
He was laid to rest in the Moorefield cemetery on the afternoon of October 10, 1930, Rev. E.E. Giesler officiating. Now he sleeps there to await the call of his Maker at the resurrection morning.
