Death Comes At 90

Mae Wilmeth, a long time resident of the Farnam community passed away Friday at the Slack Nursing Home at Gothenburg, where she had made her home for several years.

OBITUARY

Mae Elizabeth Griffeth, daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Rebecca Snyder Griffith was born at Johnstown, Pennsylvania August 15, 1868 and passed away at the Slack Nursing Home August 22, 1958 at the age of 90 years and 7 days.

On September 6, 1954 she suffered a stroke from which she never recovered.

She was united in marriage to J. O. Wilmeth, November 6, 1891, who proceded (sic) her in death.

When she was [a] child her parents moved to Nebraska City. The family moved to Deadwood, South Dakota in 1876. In 1878, they located 16 miles north west of Cambridge, where her father established the Orafino postoffice in 1881.

She was united in marriage to John G. Carlson, November 8, 1924, he proceded (sic) her in death.

For the past 65 years she has lived in and around Farnam, with the exception of a few winters.

She has been a member of the Rebekah Lodge for the past 43 years.

She leaves to mourn her passing, two sisters, Mrs. Bertie Roullau, Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Alice Mackey, Cozad; and one brother, Frank Griffith of North Platte; one sister-in-law Mrs. Herb Griffith, Cozad, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, August 25, at the Farnam Methodist Church at 1:30 p.m. Rev. B. H. Hart officiated. Interment was in the Moorefield Cemetery.

Mrs. Anton Kotschwar and Mrs. Delores Nickerson sang, Miss Josie Messersmith accompanied on the piano.

The pallbearers were: Leonard Larson, Allen Perry, Burr Parker, Ernie Lewis, Ralph Clement and Kenneth Stevens.

McVay Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
