Fred C. Jacobs
Fred C. Jacobs was born at Pittsburg, Penn. on June 10, 1871 and died at the Mercy Hospital in Denver on February 26, 1920 age 48 years 8 months and 16 days.
In the year of 1877 he moved with his parents to Hamilton County, Neb. and then in 1885 the family came to Frontier county and have made their home here since. Something like a year ago, Fred went to Sterling and worked for the railroad company, and a short time ago suffered a paralytic stroke and was hurried to Denver for treatment but soon after reaching the hospital in Denver he closed his eyes in death. Fred was one of the most respected men of this locality and we can most truthfully say was a man without an enemy.
The body was brought back to Moorefield on Tuesday, March 2, and after a very appropriate service conducted by Rev. G. B. Mayfield at the Moorefield church the body was tenderly laid to rest in the Moorefield cemetery where his father and mother and two sisters are silently resting, awaiting the coming of the Master to claim his own.
He leaves one brother, George and two sisters, Mrs. Breach of Dickens and Mrs. H. M. Cross of this vicinity and many other relatives and friends to mourn his departure.
He was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge. He was never married but always loved the families of his brother and sisters with a most sincere respect and admiration.
