Wm. Houghtelling Dies At Home of Son at McCook
William M. Houghtelling was born Nov. 4, 1848, in Sparta, Wis. He passed from this life at the home of his son, Gilbert, in McCook, Nebr., March 17, 1939, at the age of 90 years, 4 months and 13 days.
While still at Sparta he was united in marriage to Amy E. Moulter in 1874. To this union were born eight children, six of whom are still living. Mrs. Houghtelling and two sons, John and Jasper, preceded him in death.
Mr. and Mrs. Houghtelling moved to Nebraska in 1879 and located north of Arapahoe. Since 1905 Mr. Houghtelling has made his home in Stockville.
Those surviving are: Mrs. Maggie Parrott, Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Sylvia Webber, Kennewick, Wash.; Gilbert, McCook; Archie, Stockville; Calvin, Kennewick, Wash. and George, Kearney. He also leaves nineteen grandchildren, one great grandchild, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held in Stockville, Sunday afternoon, March 19. The body was laid to rest in the Stockville cemetery.
