Obituary Collection
Miss Mary Troop

Miss Mary Troop was born at Davenport, Iowa, 86 years ago and following the civil war came to Nebraska following the death of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Troop, where she joined her brothers Robert and William Troop. Miss Troop was a teacher in the public schools of Nebraska and Iowa and later a nurse. She became afflicted with rheumatism whicdh in a way crippled her but she heroically stuck to her work and was one of the very noblest women, charitable and kind of disposition and always seeking to do some good deed for another. No one was sick or in need that did not get her assistance and service if possible.

Several years ago she went to the western part of the state where she settled on a homestead and notwithstanding the rigors of the climate proved up on her claim, making her home at Farnam for a number of years. Later she returned to eastern Nebraska and ahs lived at Lincoln and Beatrice.

Funeral services were held at Plattsmouth last Monday and interment was made there. Among those attending the funeral were Mrs. W. A. Lewis of Laurel, Mrs. Robert Troop and Mrs. C. S. Sherman of Lincoln, Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Troop of Syracuse, George Troop and wife of Murray and Mrs. Hull who has been her nurse for the past year.

Other relatives of Miss Troop were Charles Troop, William O. Troop, Mrs. Anna Rhoden, Mrs. Brooks, Mrs. W. A. Lewis and Mrs. Lois Troop.
