Obituary
Marion Hamilton Brock was born October 14, 1841, in Knox county, Illinois and departed this life October 26, 1927 at the home of his grand daughter, Mrs. Edgar Carrol, Jennings, Kansas at the age of eighty six years and twelve days.
He was united in marriage to Eliza Jane Miller, July 4th, 1867, in Knox County, Illinois, and she departed this life at Jennings December 19, 1915. To this union were born five children, three sons and two daughters. Ida died in infancy; Grant who grew to manhood, departed this life September 29th, 1911.
IN 1873 the family moved from Illinois to Iowa. In the spring 1883 they moved to Nebraska and in 1893 to Jennings, Kansas where he resided at the time of his death.
He enlisted in the Union army December 26th, 1861 and served under Colonel Robert G. Ingersoll, in Company “K” Eleventh Illinois Cavalry, three years; nine months and twenty seven days. He was honorably discharged in 1865. He belonged to the G.A.R. post at Norton.
He leaves to mourn his loss, a sister, Mrs. Vera Edwards of Chicago, a brother, Andrew of Jennings, two sons Ambrose and Thomas, Twelve grand children, and thirteen great grand children all of Jennings, and a host of friends.
“A precious one from us is gone,
The one we loved is still.
A place is vacant in our home
Which never can be filled.”
The funeral services were conducted Thursday morning by Rev. Bieber pastor at the M.E. church, after which interment was made in the Jennings cemetery with the grandsons acting as pallbearers.
