Jacob Jerome Walker Early Frontier Settler Buried in California
Jacob Jerome Walker, an early settler and resident of this county for 35 years, died at Monterey Park, Calif., May 19, 1935. Mr. Walker is survived by his wife, Julia, to whom he was wedded 63 years April 10 of this year. To this union were born 12 children, eight of whom survive. They are: Charles of Wilmar, Calif.; Mrs. S. H. Wood of Curtis; Mrs. Jesse Marsh of Curtis; Mrs. Emma Reynolds of Goodland, Kans.; Foster of Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Lottie Powers of Cheyenne, Wyo.; Harriet of Nebraska City, Nebr.; and Amanda of Los Angeles, Calif. The deceased are Harry, Margaret, Stella and Katherine.
Mr. Walker was born in Meyersdale, Penn., June 7, 1853, and was 81 years, 11 months and 12 days of age at the time of his death. He came to Frontier county in 1883, homesteading south of Moorefield. After living here 35 years, Mr. and Mrs. Walker moved to California 18 years ago to make their home. Mr. Walker was laid to rest in Inglewood Park cemetery at Inglewood, Calif., May 23, 1935.
