Obituary — J. H. Guinn
Jacob Henry Guinn was born January 16, 1851, at Greenville, in Green county, Tennessee. He and his twin sister were the third and fourth of twelve children born to Andrew Jackson and Catherine Mahala Guinn.
His parents moved to Belle Plain, Iowa in the year 1856, and there he grew to manhood. At the age of 21 he was called upon to accept the responsibility of assisting his mother in caring for the family, due to the untimely death of his father.
Several years later he moved to Moorefield, Nebraska. There he was united in marriage to Lou V. Pyle, of Zanesville, Ohio, on March 27, 1895. To this union were born four sons and a daughter: Jack P. Guinn, Bartlesville, Okla., Frank H. Guinn, Wells, Nevada, Mrs. Theodore Baugh, Albert Lea, Minnesota, Alvie F. Guinn, of Marchfield, California, and H. Clay Guinn of Wellston, Oklahoma.
Mr. Guinn and his family came to Oklahoma in 1906, and has resided in or near Wellston since that time.
While a small child, at Greeville, Tenn., Mr. Guinn was baptised in the Presbyterian Church. While living in Nebraska he was an active member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows; he served in all the offices of his home encampement, and received all the degrees offered by the Order.
He died at his home in Wellswton, on Tuesday, October 1, 1935, at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 15 days. He is survived by his wife, his five children, his twin sister, Mrs. J. L. Boots, Albion, Nebraska, and his youngest brother, Melvin J. Guinn, of Los Angeles, Calif.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, Oct. 3, at the Methodist Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Wheat, and interment made at Wellston Cemetery.
