A. F. Schultz Services Held
Came to Frontier County 60 Years Ago
August Frederick Schultz was born Feb. 23, 1862 in Gras Kotten, Germany and departed this life May 29, 1946 at Lexington, Nebr., at the age of 84 years, 3 months and 5 days.
Mr. Schultz came to America in the spring of 1881 when 19 years of age. He settled first in southern Michigan. Four years later in 1885, he came to Frontier county, Nebraska and took up a homestead three miles east of Moorefield.
On March 4, 1889 Mr. Schultz was united in marriage to Penelope Jane Guinn of Belle Plain, Ia. To this union were born six sons, Melvin who passed away in August of 1837, Homer of San Diego, Calif., Guinn of Butte, Montana, Otto, Emmil and Alton of Moorefield.
His wife preceded him in death in November of 1929.
Mr. Schultz was baptized into the Church of God in 1893 and remained with the church until death.
There remain to mourn his passing besides the five children, a niece, Mrs. Geo. Flournoy of Jennings, La., who made her home with the Schultz family when a girl, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted in the Union church of Moorefield Friday, May 31, 1946 by Elder E. E. Geisler. Burial was made beside his wife in the Moorefield cemetery.
