Daniel Saxon
By the death of Daniel Saxon, of Moorefield, Frontier County loses a citizen that was loved and respected by all who knew him. To do right was his religion and the universal homage paid to his last remains showed the profound respect his neighbors bore for him. His funeral which took place last Sunday, was conducted by Level Lodge No. 196 A.F. & A.M., of this place, of which he was a member. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Stinnette, after which the procession in charge of Marshall Lane was formed consisting of fifty-six conveyances besides a large number of people on horse-back, to convey his body to its last resting place. He was buried with Masonic honors, and no doubt the procession was the longest ever seen in this county. The Masons who attended from this place were W.H Wilmeth, J.M. Gammill, J.L. Sanders, B.G. Lane, R.D. Logan, Dr. F. LaRue, W.C. Fenton, J.F. Fenton, B.S. Hovey, J.D. Horrell, J.A. Smith, M.M. Runyon, B.G. Moulton and J.A. Williams. The Masons present from Moorefield were Messrs., Wasley, Misner, Cowan and Nixon. Those present from Curtis were Ridgeway, Murnan, Ellston, Sunlap and Loot.
