Geo. Laucomer, Early Pioneer Here,
Dies at Home in Scottsbluff

Scottsbluff, Neb., April 7—The funeral of George Laucomer, 80, civil war veteran and pioneer of western Nebraska, was held at Scottsbluff today. Mr. Laucomer was active in the early days and up until his death, in the upbuilding of the North Platte valley. The casket which his famiy selected for him was an exact duplicate of the one in which President Harding was buried. A huge chair of roses and smilax was one of the floral offerings, selected to portray his faviorite song, "The Vacant Chair."

Mr. Laucomer was one of the wealthiest men of this section. Besides his widow he is survived by three sons and a daughter.

The above account of the funeral rites of Mr. Laucomer, taken from the World Herald of April 8, is especially interesting to our older readers, because of the fact that the deceased was a well known pioneer of this vicinity. Mr. Laucomer homesteaded the farm, now known as the Ray Mackey place, about 1885 or 6. He also built the residence now occupied by H. P. Brouillette in the south part of town. He left here for Northwestern Nebraska about twenty years ago.

The many friends of the Laucomer family, who reside here, extend their sympathy to the bereaved ones in their sorrow.
