Former Farnam Resident Dies; Was 89 Years Old
Myron D. Newell, Nebraska pioneer and a resident of Washington county since 1868, died at his home in Blair on Wednesday, Nov. 15th, following a lingering illness. He was 89 years old.
Born at Amherst, Mass., on September 6, 1855, Mr. Newell came to Nebraska in 1865. Three years later he moved to Washington county and took up farming. On Sept. 7, 1880, he was married to Susan T. Hall, the ceremony taking place near Herman.
With the exception of 16 years spent in homesteading in Frontier county (1884-1900), the Newells made their home in Washington county during the entire 64 years of their wedded life. They made their home in Farnam for a time and have many old friends in the Farnam and Moorefield communities. They were the parents of two children, Mrs. F. S. Jenkins of Blair and Edward S. Newell of Glendale, Calif., both of whom survive.
Besides the widow and two children, Mr. Newell leaves six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
He had been a member of the Church of God for more than 50 years.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, with burial in Blair cemetery.
