Eliza A. Westrope Willard was born at Jacksonville, Illinois, March 9, 1827, and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Brinkworth, of this place April 3, 1914, aged 87 years and 24 days. August 7, 1851 she was united in marriage to Joseph Willard in Clarksville, Missouri, which also was her home where she united with the Baptist church at the age of 16 years. For a number of years Mrs. Willard and family lived in our city and during that time the Christian church was organized and she was one of the charter members in 1881. After returning to Missouri Mr. Willard’s health failed and they went to Utah where he passed away fourteen years ago. To this union were born nine children five of whom have preceded their mother to the better world. The remaining four one daughter resided in Idaho, a son in Utah, who about a year ago visited his mother, and a daughter Mrs. Starkey of Stronghurst, Illinois, who was here several weeks returning a week ago to her home, and Mrs. Brinkworth who has cared for her the past six years. Mrs. Willard has lived a good Christian life and many are the good deeds she has strewn along her pathway for others. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Rose of the Christian church at the home of Mrs. Brinkworth and interment in our cemetery.
