Mrs. J. A. Bailey Dies
After an illness of a couple of weeks, Mrs. J. A. Bailey died August 20, 1931, at her late home a half mile south of Springfield, at the age of 74 years, 5 months and 4 days. The funeral was held from the M. E. church at 2 p. m. Sunday with burial by the side of her late husband in the Springfield cemtery.
Sarah C. Heater was born March 16, 1857, in Guthrie county, Iowa, and was united in marriage to Jacob A. Bailey in 1882. To this union one son was born, who died in infancy.
With her husband they moved to Frontier county, Nebr., in 1885, and to Springfield in 1897. Since the death of her husband in December, 1928, Mrs. Bailey has lived with her son, Ebby Thompson, by a former marriage, but the responsibilities were too great for her strength.
She is survived by her son, Ebby Thompson, one sister, Mrs. Euthala Gilroy, Ogden, Ia., and one brother, T. W. Heater, Rippey, Ia.
Deceased was converted at the age of 16, and joined the United Brethren church and lived a consistent Christian life. In 1905 she transferred her membership to the M. E. church.
