W. H. Bailey Dead

W. H. Bailey of Orafino died at his home twelve miles east of Stockville Tuesday morning about 3:30, after an illness extending over many years, the immediate cause of his death being dropsy.

The funeral services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by Rev. O. S. Davis of the Evangelical church, who preached an excellent and appropriate sermon. Interment was made in the Marlin cemetery.

Mr. Bailey had been a sufferer from rheumatism for several years being unable to walk without the aid of crutches during that time. Since the death of his wife, which occurred last January, his failing has been rapid and his demise expected at any time. The loss of his wife, who had been his loving and sympathetic companion for over fifty years, left him with no desire to live and death came as a relief.

A large concourse of people attended the funeral and the sympathy of many friends is extended to the bereaved relatives, especially to his sons, John and George, whose home is now broken up, after having devoted the better part of their lives to their parents.

William H. Bailey was born in Scredington, Lincolnshire, England, December 26, 1830. He was married to Judith Hendley, October 20, 1856. He came with his family to America in 1864. Settled in Worcester, Massachusetts, where they resided until 1885 when they came to Frontier county, Nebraska, where he has since made his home until his death June 25, 1907, aged seventy-six years and six months. Ten children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Bailey, four boys of whom are living, four dying in infancy and two, Herbert and Annie, dying recently.

The four living are John H. and George F. of Orafino, W. H. of Roseland and James T. of Stockville.—Repubican Faber.
