Florence D. Morton Dies at 102
TORRINGTON — Services for Florence D. Morton, 102, will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Julie Christensen officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery.
Mrs. Morton died at Goshen Care Center on Aug. 30, 1996.
She was born Sept. 20, 1893, the daughter of George W. and Ellen (Gilman) Hudson at Stockville, Neb. She received her elementary education there and then graduated from high school at Farnam, Neb.
She married Earl R. Morton in 1912 and they lived at Roseland, Neb. They moved to Scottsbluff, Neb., in 1914 and to Wheatland in 1917. They homesteaded in the summers in the Goshen Hole area.
In 1920, they moved to Huntley, where she was the postmaster. They made their home in Torrington after 1923.
She was a member of the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church and a past matron of the Orger of Eastern Star No. 22 in Torrington.
Survivors include two sons, Cletis of Seattle, Wash., and Dorlyne of Torrington; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son, Gaylord, a sister and four brothers.
Friends may call at The Coyler Funeral Home on Monday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The casket will be closed at the service.
