James A. Berwick was born in Sparland, Ill., April 21, 1863.

He came to Nebraska as a young man and was one of the early settlers in the Farnam vicinity, homesteading three miles east of town.

He married Urania Hennick at Henry, Ill., on February 28, 1886. To this union four children were born, two boys and two girls. Mr. and Mrs. Berwick moved from Farnam to the Dickens-Wallace community in 1918. Mrs. Berwick and sons Lee and Fred have preceded him in death.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Adrienne Walker, and Mrs. Charles J. Fulk, Grant. He passed away May 30, 1947, at a Sutherland hospital after a long illness.`
