Mrs. J. A. Berwick
Mrs. J. A. Berwick, of Dickens, Nebr., passed away January 9, 1936, at the age of 70 years, 4 months, 8 days.
Urania Hennicke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Hennicke, was born in Norfolk, Virginia, August 31, 1865. The family moved to Brooklyn, N.Y., while she was an infant. When she reached the age of nine the family again moved to Henry, Illinois, where she grew to womanhood.
At this place she was united in marriage to James Berwick, Febr. 28, 1886. Shortly after their marriage they came to live on Mr. Berwick’s homestead at Farnam, Nebr. They spent 32 years in the Farnam locality During the past 18 years they have resided at Dickens, Nebr.
When a child she was baptised and later confirmed in the Episcopal church. One son, Lee, died in infancy. Besides the husband she is survived by one brother. Henry Hennicke of Oklahoma, three children, F. J. Berwick of Custer S. Dak.; Mrs. Adrienne Walker and Mrs Chas. J. Fulk of Wallace, Nebr., and three grandchildren.
Mrs. Berwick was active and was ill only a few days. She had been president of the Dickens Ladies Aid for the past ten years and the meetings she missed were very few.
The funeral sermon was delivered by Rev. C. H. Schmitz of McCook at the Baptist church in Dickens on Sunday, Jan. 12. Interment in the Dickens cemetery.
