Gladys (Johnson) Jackson
Gladys Irene Jackson, 83, of Hershey died Thursday, June 10, 2010, at the Golden Living Center in Cozad.
Gladys was born June 23, 1926, at Brady, to Melvin Theodore and Gertrude M. Petersen Johnson. She grew up in the Brady area and graduated from Maxwell High School in 1944.
On May 28, 1944, Gladys married Loren Fred Jackson in North Platte. They lived in the areas of Brady and Paxton. They retired and moved from the Paxton area to rural Hershey in 1992.
Gladys attended the Methodist Church and was a member of the Platte Valley Horseshoe Pitchers. She liked gardening, cooking, playing cards and family gatherings. Gladys was Loren's biggest horseshoe fan.
Gladys is survived by her husband, Loren, of Hershey; a daughter, Catherine L. (Jeff) Dillehay, of Lincoln; a son, James Melvin Jackson, of North Platte; five grandchildren, Sean Jackson, of Stapleton, Brian Jackson and Amanda (Dave) Leighton, all of North Platte, Jody (Jason) Kubicek, of Waco, and Jeff (Tawnya) Jackson, of Cozad; nine great-grandchildren; and other family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Fred W. Jackson; and a daughter-in-law, Marilyn (Sheffield) Jackson.
Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 14, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore. The memorial book may be signed from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., today, at Odean Colonial Chapel or online at odeanchapel.com.
