FRED E. WILLIAMS DEAD

The community of Farnam was surprised and saddened last Monday evening, by the sudden death of Fred. E. Williams, one of the foremost citizens of Frontier County. The cause of his death being heart trouble.

Mr. Williams appeared to be in the very best of health until about an hour before he passed away. He had been working outside and about 4:30, suddenly feeling ill, went into the house to lie down. The family immediately tried to summon a doctor from Farnam, but owing to the severe storm that day, the telephone lines were out of commission, and at 5:30 the end came.

Fred E. Williams was born at Knox County, Illinois, April 22nd, 1864, and died at his home ten miles south of Farnam, Monday, April 10th, 1922, at the age of 57 years, 11 months and 12 days.

He was united to Phronia Putman, Feb. 11, 1886. To this union twelve children were born, one son having preceded him to the great beyond 18 months ago and 3 dieing [sic] in infancy.

Mr. Williams had actively been engaged in farming up to the time of his death. He was a husband and father of true and stead fast [sic] devotion, and a citizen worthy of highest praise. He was active in those things which go to build up a community and elevate the standard of its citizenship. His friends were all who knew him.

The deceased leaves to mourn his death, the wife, and eight children, a mother, two sisters and two brothers other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Farnam, Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock conducted by the pastor P. J. Kirk, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Gothenburg cemetery. The Echo joins with the many friends of the family in extending sympathy in their sad bereavement.
