Obituaries
JONES
Harold O. Jones, 81, of rural Dade City, passed away Tuesday evening at a Dade City hospital. Mr. Jones was a member of the First United Methodist Church, of Dade City, Dade City Art Club, the Tampa Realistic Artists Club, and the American Artists Professional League, Retiring from the Fire Department of the City of Detroit, Michigan with 25 years of service with the rank of Captain. He came to Dade City in 1946. He was a veteran of World War I and World War II, having served in the U. S. Navy and attaining the rank of Lt. Commander. Mr. Jones was also a master copper clay etcher. He has etchings hanging in the home of Henry Ford, Sr. in Detroit, Michigan as well as Doane College. He was a former member of the Scarab Club of Detroit and the U. S. Coast Guard Reserve. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte F. Jones, Dade City; 3 daughters; Mrs. Altaga Krasny, Melbourne, FL, Mrs. Marilyn Cowley, Longview, TX, Mrs. Janey Pitts, Lakeland.; 1 brother, James H. Jones, Zephyrhills, FL; 1 sister, Mrs. Glennie Pollard, Farnam, Neb., 10 grandchildren, 2 sisters-in-law; Mrs. Doris Jones, Plant City, and Mrs. Maude Jones, Zephyrhills; several nieces. Funeral services will be held Sat. Jan. 21, 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Dade City, with the pastor, Rev. Orville Ripley, Jr., officiting. Interment will follow in Myrtle Hill Memorial Park in Tampa, FL. Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, 417 N. Mass. Ave., Lakeland, FL in charge of arrangements where friends may call from 5-9 p.m. Friday.
