Obituary
Catherine McCloskey was born in Kent Co. Maryland, May 15, 1869. She was united in marriage to Thomas Dillin in Baltimore, Md. Sept. 26, 1906.
Taking Horace Greeley’s advice they came west; launching their future health and happiness on the fertile fields of Nebraska; locating at Willow Island.
After two years residence there they moved to the vicinity of Farnam where they have since resided.
Saturday morning, Jan. 14, 1933 while her husband, daughter and a few friends were kneeling by her bedside in meditation and prayer the angel of death came to relieve her of all earthly suffering; and accompanied her Spirit to the Judgement seat; there to receive the reward promised to all who keep the commandments.
The large concourse of relatives and friends who attended the services gave silent testimony to the respect in which she was held.
She leaves to mourn her demise her husband, daughter, Margaret, one sister, Mary, in Philadelphia and three brothers, James, John and Frank, in Baltimore; one brother, Hugh, in Rock Hall, one cousin, Sister M. Ignatius of Reading, Pa., besides many friends.
May her soul rest in peace.
I will not attempt a write-up of the many virtues she possessed.
Suffice it to say she was a model wife, mother, and neighbor and a practical Catholic and was consoled in her sickness by receiving the sacrament of extreme unction two weeks prior to her death. Solemn Requiems mass was celebrated by Rev. U. Landall in St. Joseph’s church from which she was borne to the silent city of the dead.
