Obituary

Judson Palmer Burrows was born at Sherman, New York, on July 26, 1863, and passed away at a Hastings hospital on April 21, 1942, at the age of 78 years, 8 months and 26 days.

The deceased came to Nebraska in 1886 and homesteaded twelve miles northwest of Farnam and had lived there and in Farnam until the fall of 1940 when he went to Hastings to receive treatment.

On April 12, 1891, he was united in marriage to Miss Rosie McDermott. Two children were born to this union, Mrs. Effie Andrews of Dayton, Oregon, and Mrs. Lillie McNickle of Farnam. Mrs. Burrows preceded him in death December 28, 1929.

Left to mourn his passing are his two daughters, two granddaughters, Mrs. Elaine Lindvall of Eustis and Mrs. Ethel Thomsen of Hemingford, four grandsons, Rex McNickle of New York, Verne of Washington, D.C., and Glen and Dale of Farnam, other relatives and a lot of friends.

Through the years of his life spent in and around Farnam he was a regular attendant at the Methodist church. He was a kindly Christian man and a friend of all who knew him. Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the Olesen mortuary in Gothenburg and were conducted by Rev. Samuel Mitchel, pastor of the Farnam Methodist church. Burial was in the Peckham cemetery.

Rev. and Mrs. Harry Anderson sang "The Old Rugged Cross," "Goodnight Here and Goodmorning Up There" and "No Night There." They were accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Harry Saum.

Ely Stinnette, Bernard Lindvall, Fred Rowland, Herman Thomsen, Morris Wyckoff and Lynn Crossgrove acted as pallbearers.
