Billy Jack Minges
Billy Jack Minges, 84, of Indianapolis, formerly of Farnam, Nebraska, died October 24, 2015 in Indianapolis, IN.
He was born December 31, 1930 in Kansas City, MO, son of William Joseph Minges and Edith Flora Minges.
Billy lived at Noel, MO, and moved to Concord, CA where he attended school. He joined the US Air Force in 1950 and served his country for three years as a Sergeant in crash rescue. He lived in Wharton, TX, Indianapolis, IN, and Farnam, NE. He married Shirley Hatton on February 27, 1955 at Las Vegas, NV, to this union three sons and one daughter were born: Mark, Brett, Cameron, and Victoria and also a step-daughter, Shawn Poorman. Billy worked as a grocery store manager, over-the-road truck driver and for an Oil Laboratory. He was a member of the American Legion, Lion's Club and the Farnam Cemetery Board. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He loved to play his guitar and sing.
Surviving are wife, Shirley Minges, son, Mark (Susan) Minges, son, Brett (Sandy)Minges, son, Cameron (Carol) Minges, daughter, Victoria Fritz, brother Ray Minges along with 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Billy was preceded in death by father, William Joseph Minges, mother, Edith Flora Minges, step-daughter, Shawn Poorman, brother, Joe Minges, sister, Hazel Pottorff, sister Dorothy Long, sister Helen, son-in-law Terry Fritz, grandson Jeremy Fritz, great grandchildren Asher, Gideon and Maria.
Graveside services will be held Friday, November 6, 2015 at 2:30 PM at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska.
Memorials may be given to the Farnam Library.
