Obituary Collection
Mrs. C. G. Cole Passes
To the Great Beyond

Sylvia Ann Phillips was born in Springfield, Ill., September 16th, 1860, and passed from this life at Cambridge, Nebr., August 2nd, 1928, aged 67 years, 10 months and 16 days. During her tenth year she moved with her parents to Missouri.

Here she resided until she was united in marriage to Charles G. Cole on the 16th day of March, 1884, after which they moved as pioneers to Nebraska, which place has been her home since.

To this union were born eight children: Molly, ten and Maudie, two preceding to the great beyond. Those living are Roscoe J., George H., Mrs. Gertrude Kirby, whose husband passed away in 1922 and who has since made her home with her mother, Arthur V., Verne L. and Leslie S.

The children were all born near Farnam, Nebr., where the family resided from 1886 to 1904, at which time they moved onto a farm near Cambridge.

Since the death of the father on September 13th, 1924, the mother and daughter have made their home in Cambridge. The sons live in the vicinity of Cambridge except George, who is in business in Edna, Kansas.

Mrs. Cole was a member of the United Brethern church during her earlier life, later joining the Methodist Episcopal. Her life has been devoted to the kind, loving care of her family, often neglecting herself in order to perform some act of kindness for a neighbor or friend.

She was a noble wife and mother of high moral standard, teaching and raising her children by her example of a pure honorable character.

She had been ailing some time, had regained rapidly after treatment to return to her home on the day of her death, which came as a severe shock to her family and friends.

As a neighbor she was all that constitutes a good neighbor and as such was loved, honored and respected by all who came in contact with her.

She leaves ten grandchildren.

The funeral was held Saturday, August 4, at 2 p.m. in the M. E. church, by Rev. Kennedy of Alma, assisted by Rev. W. C. Iliff. Burial was made in the Cambridge cemetery.
