Obituary
Ruben Archibald Hoy

Ruben Archibald Hoy, son of Joseph and Lucinda Hoy, was born at Sonora, Missouri, November 2, 1875, and departed this life at his home near Farnam, Nebraska, Wednesday evening, July 8, 1931 at the age of 55 years, 8 months and 6 days.

He was one of ten children, all of whom preceded him in death but one sister, Mrs. Belle Steucklin of Springfield, Nebraska, who was at his bedside at the time of his death.

His childhood days were spent near Watson, Missiouri.

On March 17, 1903, he was united in marriage to Miss Maggie Moats of Watson, Missiouri.

In March, 1906, he with his wife and small son moved to Farnam, Nebraska, near where he has made his home since with the exception of living at Blue Mound, Kansas, from 1913 to 1917.

At the age of fifteen he united with the Methodist church at Watson, Missouri Upon coming to Nebraska this membership was transferred to the Methodist church of Farnam. In 1922 he united with the Orafino Evangelical church of which he was a member at the time of his death.

During the major part of his life he was active as a Sunday School superintendent, teach and class leader.

Last summer he began failing in health, but as was his way, he never complained, but always gave his family his first thought.

Since last October his decline was rapid and from February he was confined to his bed the greater part of the time. During the last six weeks his suffering was intense and on Monday when his pain ceased he knew the end was near.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, three sons, Paul, Dean and Harold, three daughters Mabel, Ruth and Bertha, and one sister, Mrs. Belle Steucklin and a host of friends.

Loving care failed to restore him to health.

He was a loving and true husband, a kind father, and always ready to help a neighbor in the time of need.
