Maurice Prey Willson
Succumbs to Operation
Last Sunday morning this entire community was shocked by the sad news that Farnam had lost one of its brightest and best boys, Maurice Prey Willson. After an operation for appendicitis hopes were entertained for a rapid recovery but the disease had reached such a stage that it seemed that medical aid was of no avail. On Saturday night he entered into a troubled sleep from which he quietly entered into the dreamless sleep of death at two o’clock Sunday morning, October 4th, 1914.
He was born in Wallace, Neb., August 27, 1895. Age 19 years, one month and eight days. At an early age he, with his parents, moved to Farnam, where he grew up to young manhood, graduating from Farnam high school in the class of 1913. He united with the Methodist church March 17, 1907. He leaves a loving mother, a devoted father, one sister, two brothers, a host of relatives and friends who mourn his early departure. The funeral services were held in the Methodist church, conducted by the local pastor, after which he was tenderly laid to rest in the Farnam cemetery. The very large concourse which attended the funeral indicated the high esteem in which Maurice was held by this community. Many large and beautiful floral designs were presented by the friends of the family which helped, in a large measure, to relieve the sadness of the dark hour of bereavement.
The pall bearers were: John Rowland, C. E. Duncan, Gilbert Hicks, Owen Thompson, Willis Wyckoff and Dwight Stebbins.

A TRIBUTE TO MAURICE AND SHIRLEY WILLSON
Last Thursday, the casket bearing the remains of Maurice Willson was exhumed from the direction of Farnam’s Undertaker and sent to Colorado Springs, Colorado, to be interred in the family burial lot by the side of Mauricea’s father, the late H. O. Willson. We learn from authentic sources that Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Willson’s little daughter Shirley’s remains were disinterred at Lincoln recently to be placed in the Silent City of the Dead near Grandfather and Uncle.
The Willson’s have decided to make Colorado Springs their permanent home and have planned for some time to have Maurice and Shirley moved but there were many legal requirements to be met but the family have their desires fulfilled at last and they now have there three loved ones who have preceded them in death in one beautiful Cemetery where they can shower their graves with flowers.
It has meant anxious moments and recalling of sad memories and Farnam friends are very sympathetic for the Willson families in these trying hours. --Contributed
