Gladys Eva Dunkin

Gladys Eva Dunkin, 86, of North Platte died April 21, 1996, at Centennial Park Retirement Village in North Platte.

She was born Jan. 8, 1910, at Gothenburg to Otto William and Lily Eugenia Donelson Oman. She grew up in the Gothenburg and Farnam area and graduated from Farnam High School in 1927.

On Feb. 18, 1933, she married Lloyd Urie Dunkin at Elwood. They farmed in the Farnam-Moorefield area until moving to North Platte in the early 1940s.

Mrs. Dunkin was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Northern Lights Sunday school class, Presbyterian Circle 3, G.I.A., the Beauceants, Eastern Star Signet Chapter 55, where she was Worthy Matron in 1976, the Past Matrons Club and Grand Representative to South Carolina for O.E.S.

Survivors include a daughter, Judy (Brian) Mason of Hastings; a son, Larry (Rita) of Danielson, Conn.; 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, in 1986, and a sister, Dorothy Benge.

Memorials are suggested to the Nebraska Children’s Home Society of the First Presbyterian Church.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C and Sycamore with the Rev. Glenn Mahaffey of the Episcopal Church of Our Savior officiating. Eastern Star rites will be conducted by Signet Chapter 55, Order of the Eastern Star. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C and Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements.
