George F. Humbert

From the Cambridge (Nebraska) Clarion: Geo. F. Humbert is dead. One of our old and highly respected citizens and soldiers died Wednesday, of heart disease. Grandpa Humbert, as he was familiarly known about town had been in poor health for a long time, and he knew as well as his friends it was only a question when he must succumb to the dread disease. George F. Humbert was born in Pennsylvania, Aug. 24, 1840, moved to Wisconsin at the age of 15. Enlisted in the 35th Wisconsin Infantry, served through the civil war. Moved to Nebraska in 1870, settled in Saline county. He was married to Clara B. Eaton in Chase county, 1887. To this union was born one daughter. Mr. Humbert and family moved to Cambridge 2 years ago. Deceased was a christian gentleman having united with the Cong’l church at the age of 52. He leaves a wife, one daughter, two brothers and five sisters. He was an honest, industrious man, kind husband and indulgent father.
