Walter Franklin Johnson
A funeral for Walter Franklin Johnson, a former packer and guide in Noxon, Mont., was a 2 p.m. (MDT) Tuesday at the Noxon Community Church. The Rev. Ben Moore of Clark Fork Methodist Church officiated.
Interment followed at the Noxon Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson died June 25 at Bonner General Hospital in Sandpoint. He was 74.
He was born in Farnam, Neb., on Aug. 30, 1906, and married Phoebe Joyce Boodry on Sept. 1, 1929 in Alliance, Neb.
The couple moved from Nebraska to Noxon in 1938, where Mr. Johnson worked at various jobs, the last being as a packer and guide in the Noxon-Trout Creek area.
Mr. Johnson was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
He was preceded in death by two sons, James Johnson in 1955 and Lauren Johnson in 1976. He is survived by his wife, Phoebe Johnson of Edmonds, Wash.; four sons, Laurence Johnson of Seattle, Delbert Johnson of Edmonds, and Edward and Charles Johnson of Noxon; one daughter, Dora Adams of Bridgeport, Wash.; and 12 grandchildren.
Also surviving are three brothers, Francis Johnson of California, George Johnson of North Dakota and Lewis Johnson of Boston; and four sisters, Edna Clymore of Wyoming, Viola Lehman of Nebraska, Maude Plourd of Nebraska and Nordeen Zink of Idaho.
