Phyllis E. Snyder

CORVALLIS — Phyllis E. Snyder 78, of Corvallis died Saturday in Hillsboro.

She was born in Frontier county, Neb., to Sidney Hollingsworth “Hollie” and Cora Belle (Stebbins) Williams. She grew up in the Farnam, Neb., area. She graduated from Farnam High School in 1940.

During World War II she worked in a munitions factory in Kearney, Neb., making several kinds of bombs. She moved to Potter, Neb., with her parents and worked with her mother in a drug store.

She married William “Bill” Snyder Feb. 19, 1951, in Potter, and they moved to Corvallis in 1953. Her husband died in June.

Mrs. Snyder was a homemaker and mother. She worked for Arctic Circle from 1968 until 1975, when she retired.

She was a past member of the Royal Neighbors and had served as a den mother for Cub Scouts and a leader for Brownies, Bluebirds and Campfire Girls. She enjoyed raising her family and being a grandmother and had liked traelling with Bill.

Surviving are son Robert of Glenwood Springs, Colo.; daughter Holly Sawyer of Aloha; sister Mildred Haworth of Boise, Idaho; and grandchildren Jeremy Snyder, Heather Berent and Stacey Liesegang.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at DeMoss–Durdan Garden Chapel. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel. A private inurnment service will be at Twin Oaks Memorial Park in Albany.

Contributions in her name may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children, in care of DeMoss–Durdan Garden Chapel, 815 N.W. Buchanan Ave., Corvallis, Ore. 97330.
