G. S. Stinnette, Frontier County Resident for 59 Years, Passed Away
Garnet Smith Stinnette, son of Pleasant E. and Elizabeth Stinnette was born at Liberty, Va., Febr. 23, 1858 and departed this life at his home in Curtis, Febr. 11, 1945 at the age of 86 years, 11 months, 11 days old.
When a lad of 9 years he with his parents moved to Marys Co., Missouri, later moving to St. Clair Co. where he met and married Martha J. Beckam on Dec. 25, 1879. To this union four children were born. Mettie, the oldest, died in early childhood.
In 1886 the family moved to Frontier county, Nebraska. Two years later, Martha, the mother, died in 1888. On Oct. 14, 1890 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Alma J. Schultz. To this union 5 children were born all of which survive.
When a young man he made his peace with God and has been a faithful follower of his Master ever since. He was a loving father and husband, always treating everyone in an honest and upright way.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his devoted wife, Alma of Curtis, eight children, Ely of Ingham, Emmet of Bingham, Della Kitchen of North Platte, Lillie Sweet of Curtis, Vesta Murray of North Platte, Guy of North Platte, Zazel Stafford of Chugwater, Wyo., and Ross of Chugwater. Besides he leaves 25 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Virginia Hinkley of Bern, Kansas, nieces, nephews and a host of friends who mourn his parting.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist church with burial in the Moorefield cemetery.
