Florence Blythe was the name of the daughter of Edna Mae (Sissy) Brown, born 23 Jan 1901 in Nebraska City, Otoe Co., Nebraska.

Blythe’s grandfather Edward Brown, had run a riverboat and ferry service across the Missouri River from East Port, Fremont County, Iowa to Nebraska City, Nebraska before there were any bridges built crossing the mighty river. Edward lost his income when the bridge was finished. He died of pneumonia the spring before Blythe was born.

After Blythe's birth 23 January 1901, her mother Edna, age 17, caught pneumonia and died 8 Feb. 1901 when Blythe was only 16 days old.

Blythe was left with her grandmother Juliett (Griffin) Brown, and her surviving maternal aunts and uncles: Warren Mullock; Iva Mae Brown (m. Jesse Stokes in 1898, resided in Council Bluffs, IA); Admiral Van Buren (Bud) Brown, about 19 years old; Flossie Brown, about 14 years old; Archie Brown, about 13 years old; Goldie Pearl Brown, about 8 years old; and Ruby Brown, about 4 years old.

Grandmother Juliett Brown was forced by the county to give up her younger dependent children and her baby granddaughter to the Nebraska children's Home. From there Blythe was adopted by John T. and Sallie A. Delaney Hinckley.

Florence Blythe Hinkley married 14 Jan 1922, in Farnam, Dawson Co., NE to Allie "Al" H. Hicks. Al died 21 Sept 1939 in Ukiah, Mendocino Co., CA and was buried there. Blythe 2nd married 12 May 1941 in Reno, Washoe Co., Nevada to Percy "Jack" Teeple. Jack died in July 1959 at San Francisco, San Francisco Co., CA. Blythe 3rd married Roy M. Stillwell. Florence Blythe Stillwell died 30 Dec 1980 in Eureka, Humboldt Co., CA and was buried in the Greenwood Cemetery, Arcata, CA on 2 Jan 1981.

The two children of Florence Blythe and Al Hicks are:
1. Betty Blythe Hicks, b. 15 May 1924 in Omaha, Douglas Co., NE. 1m. Anthony "Tony" Lawrence Bolano in 1942, Ukiah, Mendocino Co., CA.; 2m. Arthur Lovel Martin. Betty died in October 1968 in Los Angeles, CA.
2.John william Hicks, b. 7 Nov 1927, Omaha, Douglas Co., NE. He married & divorced 1. Barbara and 2. Phyllis, and married a 3rd time to Joy.
