Clifford Glenn Hess
ALMA — Clifford Glenn Hess, 63, Harlan county farmer, died at his home southeast of Orleans Feb. 24, 1994.
He was born Sept. 28, 1930, near Eustis to Earl LaMott and Katie Emily Hess, attended rural school and graduated from Farnam High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957.
On April 7, 1957, he married Adelyn J. Preitauer at Gothenburg. They lived at Cozad until 1958 and then Curtis before moving to their present farm in 1966.
Mr. Hess was a member of the Evangelical Free Church where he had served on the building committee, as a trustee, deacon, Sunday school teacher and youth sponsor. He was a sponsor of Teens for Christ Connection for 12 years. He was also a member of the Harlan County Farm Bureau, Orleans Chamber of Commerce and Gideons International Southcentral Conference of Nebraska. He served on the Alma Coop Oil Board and had sold seed corn for 24 years.
Survivors include his wife of Alma, a son, Glenn (Cheryl) of Orleans; a daughter, Marla (Jerral) Svehla of Loomis; two brothers, Gilbert and Irvin, both of Farnam; a sister, Ruth Junker of Cozad; and four grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Alma Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Glenn Saaman officiating. Burial will be in the Oreleans Cemetery.
The family request in lieu of flowers memorials be given to missions.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, Sunday and Monday.
Banta-Torrey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
