A Pioneer Passes Beyond
Simeon P. Conner Dies Sunday After Brief Illness
After sixty-two years of usefulness in this world, Simeon P. Conner died at his home south of Eustis, last Sunday morning, July 7th, shortly before 11 o’clock. His death was caused by over-exertion last Friday from which he became over heated, which caused paralysis and ended his life.
The deceased was born in Indiana county, Pennsylvania, May 16th, 1845, where he resided until he came to this county in the winter of 1884. The following spring he moved onto the place on which he died.
At the age of nineteen he enlisted in Co. I, Pennsylvania volunteers where he served a year, and came out with a clear record.
Four years later he was married to Miss Anna Wasam and from this union eleven children were born, ten boys and one girl. Later a granddaughter, Miss Maggie, was adopted, and still lives with them. The only daughter, now Mrs. S. K. Brown of Farnam, seven sons and Mrs. Conner were present to witness the last sad rites over all that was earthly of their father and husband.
The funeral services wer conducted at the Conner home by Rev. O. S. Davis and a large concourse of friends followed the body to its final resting place in the Methven [Evergreen] cemetery.
The deceased has experienced many hardships in Nebraska but bore up under all adversities, always believing in the future prosperity of Frontier county, and was spared to see his convictions materialize in many respects. His death will be a great loss to the community. The News joins with their many friends in extending its sympathy to the bereaved family.
