Kenneth E. Waits
GERING — A funeral for Kenneth E. Waits, 78, of 2550 21st St., who died Jan. 25, 1990, in the Scottsbluff Hospital, will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Gering Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Floyd Sauer officiating. Burial will be in the West Lawn Cemetery at Gering.
Memorials have been established to the Gering volunteer fire department and its scholarship fund.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 1-6 p.m. today and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service Monday.
He was born Jan. 3, 1912, at Farnam to Frank and Elma (Delate) Waits. He grew up and recived his education there, graduating from Farnam High School in 1931. He married Faye B. Hudson on July 20, 1935, at Farnam. He farmed there several years until moving to the western Nebraska and eastern Wyoming areas. In 1941 they moved to Gering. He was a line foreman for the Bureau of Reclamation for 32 years. He retired in 1974.
He was a member and past president of the Gering volunteer fire department, the Nebraska State Volunteer Fire Fighters Association, Eagles Lodge No. 2998, a past member of the Moose Lodge, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Survivors include his son Ron of Arvada, Colo.; daughter Karon Kronberg of Seattle; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and a sister.
