Armand Clouatre
GOTHENBURG — Armand “Frenchie” Clouatre, 91, retired Gothenburg and Cozad businessman, died Nov. 17, 1993, at the Gothenburg hospital.
He was born Nov. 9, 1902, at Ste. Ignace, Quebec, Canada, to Arthur and Mary Bourgeois Clouatre and grew up in the Farnam area, graduating from Farnam High School in 1925. He operated Frenchie’s Cafe in Gothenburg from 1927-1936 and Frenchie’s Cafe in Cozad from 1936-1957.
He married Marie Berger on June 30, 1931, at Lexington.
Mr. Clouatre was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church and was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Marie of Gothenburg; three sons, Dr. J. A. (Marilyn) of Lakewood, Colo., Denis (Jan) of Slidelle, La., and Terry (Jeri) of Littleton, Colo.; a sister, Des Aden of Gothenburg; seven grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
Preceding him in death were a son, David, and a brother, Arsene.
Rosary will be recited 7:30 p.m. today at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Donald O’Brien as celebrant. Burial will be in the Gothenburg cemetery.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to the church.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home and 5-9 p.m. at the church.
McVay Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
