Henry B. Craig, Long-Time Resident Of Brady, Is Called
Henry B. Craig was born March 26, 1869, near Carthage, Mo., and died November 21, 1951, in Gothenburg Memorial Hospital, aged 82 years, 7 months and 25 days.
As a young man he came to Nebraska with his parents, later homesteading in the hills south of Brady. He lived on this homestead until January 1936, when he moved to the Svea Dal community.
On December 16, 1896, he was united in marriage to Daisy Caroline Austin. To this union were born three daughters. Twin daughters were born in 1906 and departed this life soon after birth.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife and daughter, Mrs. Ernest Peterson; also five brothers and two sisters, all of whom are living: T. C. Craig of Twin Falls, Idaho; Adelia Ellis, Washington, D. C.; Lena Brooks, Los Angeles, California; Bob Craig, Brady; John Craig, Elko, Nevada; James Craig, Grand Island; Dick Craig, Brady. Also three grandchildren, Kent, LaVanne and Betheen Bee, and a son-in-law, Ernest Peterson; and a host of other relatives, friends and kind neighbors.
God giveth and taketh away.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, Nov. 24th, at two o’clock, at the Olesen Funeral Home, Rev. Paul Nelson, pastor of Svea Dal church, and Rev. Walter Neth, pastor of the Brady Methodist church, officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Bergstrom sang “Going Down the Valley” and “In the Sweet By and By.” They were accompanied at the organ by Miss Marilyn Kratzenstein. Six nephews served as casket bearers: Robert, Dale, Milton, Dwight, Ray and Lennis Craig. Interment was in the Gaslin cemetery.
