Mildred V. (Warren) Wharton
Mildred Violet Wharton, 95 of Scottsbluff, died Sunday, January 22, 2006 at Mitchell Care Center, where she has resided since 1998. Funeral services will be held 2:00 Friday, January 27, 2006, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel with the Pastor Rod Wetzig officiating. Burial will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering, Nebraska. She was born January 15, 1911 in Aurora, Nebraska to William A. and Minnie E. (Rutter) Warren. Her family moved to the rural Mitchell area in 1918. Her early education was iin a rural school near Sheep Creek north of Mitchell. She graduated from Mitchell High School in 1929. She married Harold William Wharton on November 13, 1934 in Kimball, Nebraska. They made their first home east of Mitchell where he farmed and she was a housewife., later residing in Gering Valley for 13 years, near Minatare for 5 years and northeast of Scottsbluff for 15 years until his retirement in 1974 when they moved to Scottsbluff. She was an active participant with Mr. Wharton in his farming and cattle feeding activities in addition to her household work.
Survivors include her son Harold Gary Wharton of Bridge City, Texas; granddaughter Jennifer Heather Kissam of Beaumont, Texas; one nephew and two nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, one brother, one nephew and one niece.
