FARNAM — Fred S. Johnson, 89, died Sunday at a Gothenburg hospital. He was born May 30, 1896, at Bertrand.

Mr. Johnson grew up in Bertrand and lived in Farnam since 1930. He married Judith Johnson Oct. 29, 1930.

Survivors include four sons, Eugene of Elsie, Ardell of Ogallala, Donald of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Forrest of Farnam; eight daughters, Verda May (Mrs. Bill) Woods of Phoenix, Ariz., Rhoda (Mrs. Donald) Seay of Ault, Colo., Lorena Kennicutt of Elsie, Aliene (Mrs. Harlan) Stewart of LaCanada, Calif., Dorothy (Mrs. Stan) Vlasin of Madrid, Dora (Mrs. Henry) Sass of Ogallala, Adelay (Mrs. Harry) Bassler of Tehachapi, Calif., Ruby Walker of Ogallala; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1963

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Nazarene in Farnam with the Rev. Ronald Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in the Sandstrom Cemetery at Bertrand.

A memorial has been established.

McVay Memorial Chapel of Gothenburg is in charge of arrangements.
