John Mosley Funeral Held Wednesday
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Eustis Methodist church for John Mosley, who passed away Sunday evening, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Herman Easterday, four miles west of Eustis.
John William Mosley, son of Alfred and Mary Mosley was born at Richmond, in Ray County, Missouri, on July 14, 1859. On Sept. 4, 1881 he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Arabelle Raff at Osborne, Kansas. The young couple moved to Nebraska and settled in Fillmore County until the year 1890, when they homesteaded north of Farnam, where they resided until 1902. Later they purchased a farm seven miles west of Farnam and here the family was raised.
In 1927 Mr. Mosley made his home with his youngest daughter, Mrs. Vera Easterday of Eustis, with whom he lived until he departed from this life on Sunday morning, Oct. 31, 1937, at the age of 78 years, 3 months and 17 days.
Grandpa Mosley was known for his wonderful personality. His thoughts for others not for himself. Even to the last of his conscious moments his thoughts were for those who were ministering him. He was a most devoted Christian all his life and placed his Heavenly Father first in all things. He was baptized on Sunday, Oct. 12, 1933 and became a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and remained faithful to the end.
He leaves to mourn his departure four daughters and one son; Mrs. Minnie Murray, Farnam, Nebr.; Mrs. Eva Maloney and Floyd Mosley of Gothenburg; Mrs. Pearl Cross, Moorefield; and Mrs. Vera Easterday of Eustis. Also seventeen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, four sisters, two brothers, three half brothers, one half sister and a host of relatives and friends.
He who gave, hath now recalled,
Another pilgrim from earth away;
From the pains and cares of life,
To a land that’s endless day.
We shall miss thy helping hand,
Ever ready with deeds of love,
God has seen fit to transplant it,
To a brighter sphere above.
