Clarence Richard Liggett

Clarence Richard Liggett was born at Tecumseh, Nebr., August 26, 1885 and departed this life Nov. 12, 1937 in the hospital at Cambridge, Nebr., at the age of 52 years, 2 months and 16 days.

He was united in marriage to Miss Sadie Heumphreus of Cambridge, Nebr., in 1914. She and their infant son died in 1915.

On October 28, 1923 he was united in marriage to Miss Esther Morrow. To this union one son Clarence Robert was born Dec. 16, 1926.

Mr. Liggett has been employed by the Cambridge Telephone Company for the past 19 years. In this capacity he rendered faithful service and became widely known throughout the community. Everyone was his friend. He was affiliated with the Odd Fellow and Rebekah Lodges of Cambridge.

On February 24, 1924 he gave his heart to God and united with the Methodist Episcopal church of Cambridge, Nebr. He was a member of the Official Board and gave unstintedly of his time and talent to the service of the church he loved.

He was devoted to his family and made his home the center of his life. He leaves to mourn his departure his faithful wife and one son, Clarence Robert Liggett; four sisters: Mrs. Jessie Gariss of Beatrice, Nebr.; Mrs. Clara Gariss, a twin sister of Omaha, Nebr.; Mrs. Kate Gariss of Tecumseh, Nebr.; and Mrs. Bertha Varvel of Grand Island, Nebr. Also two brothers, Ben Liggett of Helena, Montana, and George Liggett of Seattle, Washington. Many other relatives and a host of friends.

The funeral service was held at the M. E. Church in Cambridge Monday, Nov. 15 at 2:30 P.M., conducted by Rev. Ernest Gaither. Music was by a male quartet composed of Messers. Harley Bellamy, Clinton John, Dan Dick and L. C. Richardson with Mrs. Byler at the piano. The body was laid to rest to rest in the Cambridge cemetery.

Those attending the service from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Phelps, Benkelman; Mrs. J. A. Miller, Craig; Mrs. Clara Gariss and son, Jerry, Omaha; Mrs. Jessie Gariss, Beatrice; Mrs. Kate Gariss and son, Willis, Tecumseh; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Varvel and son, Leonard, of Grand Island.
