William Franklin Hand, son of Elijah Hand and Susan Roberts was born near Fairfield, Nebr. September 28, 1877 and passed away July 22, 1962 at the Hastings State Hospital after a long illness, at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 24 days.

He was united in marriage to Pearl Culver September 25, 1907 in Fairfield, Nebr. Two children were born to this union, Velma Johnson preceding him in death on February 1951.

His wife Pearl, son Vaughn, foster son, Carlos Hoyt, three brothers, Homer Hand of Edgar, Joe Hand of Kellogg, Ida.; Roy Hand of Hastings; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren survive him.

His father, mother, 5 sisters, Ella Hoyt, Estella Kerr, Bessie Culver, Cora Hoyt and Lucy Hand; 2 brothers, Fay and Ernest Hand preceded him in death.

Mr. Hand moved to a farm 4½ miles northeast of Moorefield in 1911, making his home there until he moved into Moorefield in 1944 living there until he passed away.

Services were held Wednesday, July 25 from the Union Church in Moorefield with Wetzel’s Service in charge.
