Carrie J. Callahan, 73, of Brady, formerly of Gothenburg, passed away Saturday April 10, 2010 at Gothenburg.
Services took place on Tuesday, April 13, at Blase–Strauser Memorial Chapel of Gothenburg with the Rev. Larry Viter officiating. Burial was at the Gaslin Cemetery south of Brady.
Callahan was born April 16, 1936 to Gunner and Inez (Henry) Anderson at Arnold.
On March 24, 1956, she was united in marriage to Bert Callahan at the Methodist parsonage at Arnold.
Callahan had lived in Gothenburg from 1956 to 1962. She and her husband then moved to Brady in 1962, where they resided.
She especially enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and attending the many events of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, according to family members.
Callahan was a member of the American Red Cross and was a den mother for Cub Scouts of America for her son Randy while he was a Cub Scout.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gunner and Inez Anderson, a sister Betty Gift; brothers—Robert Anderson, Dale Anderson, Wayne Anderson and Roy Anderson.
Survivors include her husband, Bert; daughters—Donna (Buddy) Anderson of Gothenburg and Tammy Jo Callahan of Brady; a son, Randy Callahan of Gothenburg; sister, Mary (Adrian) Szwanek of North Platte; sisters–in–laws, Joan Anderson of Denver, CO., Joan Anderson of Gothenburg, and Pearl Anderson of Callaway; brother–in–law, Paul Callahan of Farnam; eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to the Bert Callahan family at 218 West Short St., P.O. Box 34, Brady, NE 69123.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel of Gothenburg.
