MINDEN — Services for Viola M. Burchell, 85, of Minden, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church of Minden, with the Rev. Robert Frescoln officiating. Burial will be in Minden Cemetery.>

Layton Funeral Home of Minden is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Burchell was born Sept. 12, 1901 at Farnam and died Monday at the Kearney County Community Hospital.

She was raised in Farnam, where she graduated from high school in 1920. In 1921 she worked in Minden as a telephone operator.

In 1933, she married George Burchell in Minden. The couple farmed north of town until 1970. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, George of Minden; son Marshall of Kearney; two grandchildren; and sisters, Mae Litchenberg of Gothenburg and Dora Whitney of Hay Springs.
