Edith Gewecke dies

MILTON-FREEWATER — Edith Gewecke, 78, Milton-Freewater, died Saturday at La Grande.

Mrs. Gewecke was born Dec. 14, 1894 in DeWitt, Neb. She married Oscar Gewecke in Stockville, Neb., Jan. 25, 1911. She moved to Milton-Freewater in 1938. Mr. Gewecke died April 26, 1953.

She is survived by four daugthers: Mrs. Ed Rand, La Grande, Mrs. Ruby Gray and Mrs. Ethel Harlow, both of Long Beach, Calif, and Blanche Murphey, Cashmere, Wash.; two sons: Glen Gewecke, Long Beach, Ronald Gewecke, Freemont, Calif.; a brother, Herb Kishmer, Santa Ana, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Floyd Mosley, Gothenburg, Neb.; and numerous grandchildren.

Funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the First Christian Church in Milton-Freewater. Vault interment will be in the Milton-Freewater Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Jewett, Enterprise Christian Church, officiating.

Munselle-Roberts Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
