OBITUARY

Oscar Joseph Gewecke was born in Ohiowa, Nebraska, January 3, 1889, and passed away at his home north of Freewater, Oregon, Sunday, April 26, 1953, at the age of 64 years, 3 months and 23 days.

He was united in marriage to Edith Kishmer January 25, 1911, at Stockville and to this union were born seven children.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Adolph and Elizabeth Gewecke and his eldest sister, Louise.

He has spent his lifetime farming near Farnam and at Freewater, where he has resided the past sixteen years.

He will long be remembered for his generosity and friendliness, for he knew no strangers. He was a devoted husband and father and served his Master faithfully by his active participation in the events of his church, the Christian church of Milton. He is survived by his wife Edith and seven children: Mrs. Ruby Gray, Long Beach, California; Mrs. Blanche Murphey, Pasco, Washington; Glenn Gewecke, Bellflower, California; Mrs. Ethel Brouilette, Bellflower, California; Mrs. Georgena Rand, Freshwater; Harvey Gewecke, Portland, and Ronald, who is still at home. Others surviving are five sisters, one brother and seven grandchildren.
