Delazon L. "Del" Teel

Delazon Laverne "Del" Teel, 83, of Kearney died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Mount Carmel Home Keens Memorial.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Main officiating. Burial will be at Kearney Cemetery with military honors by the Nebraska National Guard in conjunction with American Legion Post 52 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 759.

He was born Jan. 3, 1930, in Farnam to Carroll and Martha (Harwood) Teel.

In 1950, he married Cecelia Wiese. They divorced.

He married Bonnie Flint.

Survivors include his daughters, Deborah Best of St. Paul, Minn., and Tami Maruska and Kathy Hunt and her husband, Bob, all of Kearney; son, Roger Teel and his wife, Suzanne, of Minden; grandchildren, Nicolle Best, Brad Best, Ryan Best, Michael Dowson, Gina Whiteford, Amanda Bristol, Chris Hunt, Chase Hunt, Alex Hunt, Adasen Hunt, Brandon Teel, Brock Teel, Dane Teel and Colby Teel; many great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers, Marion Teel and his wife, Jean, of Shawnee Mission, Kan., and Marlyn Teel and his wife, Joan, of Lexington; sister, Jeanne McCain and her husband, Dennis, of Gothenburg; and many nieces and nephews.

He received his education in Elwood. Del enlisted into the U.S. Army in September 1948 and received his honorable discharge in August 1951.

Del was a member of American Legion Post 52, VFW Post 759, and the Eagles Club. Del was a longtime employee of Eaton Corp. and served on its Fire Brigade. He enjoyed spending his time woodworking and cabinet making.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Blake Teel; and great-great-granddaughter, Ailey King.
